Thanks to you, we have made a difference for Parkinson’s patients
12/01/2018
A lady with Parkinson’s contacted us to share her experience of being a patient at Tunbridge Wells Hospital.
She felt that she didn’t receive the care and support that she needed to cope with her Parkinson’s symptoms. For example, she asked for help to get dressed and do up her buttons but it wasn’t provided. As a result, she felt very distressed.
With her permission, we shared her story with the hospital and facilitated a meeting between the patient, her Parkinson’s nurse and the hospital.
The Hospital listened to her experience and organised for staff to be trained in how to better support any patient with Parkinson’s.
Since then staff have been trained and the Parkinson’s nurse is regularly contacted by hospital staff seeking additional advice and guidance on how to best look after other Parkinson’s patients.
So thanks to you, a difference has been made for hundreds of others.
Share your story with us and help improve services for other people. #itstartswithyou
