Cardiology services in West Kent to be located at Maidstone Hospital

A decision has been made to centralise inpatient cardiology services at Maidstone Hospital.
changes to cardiology services

Outpatients for cardiac patients will remain at both Tunbridge Wells and Maidstone hospitals, as well as Crowborough and Sevenoaks. However anyone who needs to stay overnight, or who needs the catheter lab, will soon need to go to Maidstone Hospital for care.

Many of you got involved and shared your thoughts on the proposals. Most of you told the NHS that you understood why the service wanted to change and recognised the benefits that centralising the service could bring.

Some of you did raise concerns about the increased time it will take to get to the hospital for both patients and visitors. The hospital trust has committed to looking into this further to see what they can do to help.

The service won't move to Maidstone straight away, but staff will now start planning how and when to make the changes.
