Kent County Council Peoples' Panel

A new Peoples' Panel met for the first time today. Its purpose is to bring a range of people together to input their ideas and thoughts at an early stage in discussions about social care services.

The Panel is a joint initiative between Kent County Council and Healthwatch Kent.

We have invited people from across Kent who come from a range of communities to join the Panel. For example, members include people from the Older Peoples' Forums, Mental Health User Voice and the Kent Physical Disability Forum as well as Healthwatch Kent volunteers. The Chair of the Patient & Public Advisory Group which works with the NHS Sustainability & Transformation Plan is also part of group. All the members went through an interview process to ensure we had a good range of views and experiences.

At this first meeting we explored a range of topics including:

  • the new Kent Carers App
  • how people currently contact KCC's Adult Social Care service
  • the work of the Design & Learning Centre

Meetings are planned bimonthly and will cover a range of topics.
