The Government has promised to remove all mental health dormitory wards by 2024. Ruby Ward, which is in Medway, is the only remaining dormitory ward in Kent & Medway.

The mental health Trust which covers Kent & Medway (the Kent and Medway NHS and Social Care Partnership Trust) has been allocated £12.65 million to replace Ruby Ward, which is based in Medway Maritime Hospital. That's why they are now asking people to share their views on the proposal to relocate Ruby Ward from Medway Maritime Hospital to a new purpose-built unit next to Maidstone Hospital.

Ruby Ward currently looks after women over 65, from all over Kent & Medway, who have what is known as ‘functional mental illness’, for example severe depression, schizophrenia or bi-polar disorder.

The consultation will run until midnight on Tuesday 21st September.

If you can't attend a meeting, but you want to share your thoughts, you can do that in a number of ways:
