Have you used non-urgent patient transport to get to a healthcare service or appointment?

Even if you are likely to access this transport facility, it is important you are aware of planned changes.

Kent and Medway Integrated Care Board (K&M ICB) are planning to update the Non-emergency patient transport (NEPTS) Eligibility Criteria in line with NHS England guidance.

In August 2021, NHS England and NHS Improvement published the outcome of a review of this form of transport

The review set out a new national framework with the aim of ensuring that services are consistently responsive, fair, and sustainable. Following the review, it was recommended that the national eligibility criteria be updated. These criteria were published in May 2022 following extensive engagement with commissioners, providers, service user and patient groups, and a public consultation.

K&M ICB and Patient Transport provider G4S met with Healthwatch and engaged with stakeholders, providers, Acute trusts, patient groups and Age UK and are we are now preparing to run services under these updated Eligibility criteria.

We will let you know what changes are happening when as we hear about them.
